I didn't know that. I always thought the rear bumper was an option on 48-50 trucks...

I'm not sure what I will end up with for a LP holder. My taillight plans are to modify a set of 1946 Chrysler Town and Country taillights. I have the taillight housing and have been slowing filing them down to fit the curvature of my fenders.
Right now I am using a set of universal trailer lights and brackets. The lights resemble Jeep tailights, they are about 6" almost square and include the reverse lights. I have the brackets bolted onto the rear of the frame. I have not yet decide what to do about a rear bumper. I still need to replace my rear bed stake pockets and fabricate the connecting piece between them.

All of these things need to be done at once. I am at a standstill because everything effects everything else and I don't know where to start......agh

I never thought about it, but I guess I'd like to have reverse lights, even if they have to be manually lit up. Hmmmm....

Ross,
I like the new positioning of your lights, it ought to keep you from snagging on them everytime you walk by. Maybe when you design your LP bracket you can incorporate some back up lights as well

Bobby,

I test fitted my rear bumper and it seems that if the license plate is mounted on the tail light bracket it will be partially obscured by the bumper. Plus, like others have said you will snag your clothes on it there too. I think the logical place for the plate is going to be either directly on the rear bumper (which I don't like too much since I'd have to drill holes in my new polished SS bumper to mount it there) or on the panel under the tailgate. It will be close but I think I can mount it there high enough to be seen over the bumper and still not interfere with the tail gate operation but I'll have to use an aftermarket tag light. You are right about fitting all this stuff at the same time. There is more to it than it seems...

Vern,
I would not drill holes in that new SS bumper. I like the way Blue50F-1 did it by attaching it to the area under the tailgate. Right now my LP is screwed into the rear frame x-member that is right at the rear of the frame. I did add and accessory tag light.

It will all come together eventually
