dip stick?

dip stick?
My 390 had a truck oil pan on it with the dip stick in the pan. I got a car oil pan now, which is a front sump. It does not have a dip stick on it, nor anywhere to attach one. I am guessing there is somewhere on the front of the block to attach one. Does a hole need to be drilled somewhere on the block or timing cover?

A car block has the hole for the dipstick just beside the oil filter adapter. I don't know if they didn't machine the hole when a full sump pan with oil stick was on the block or not. Is your 390 an FE or an FT?

look on the machined surface just behind the filter adapter there should be a slot or slightly angled hole where the front sump stick goes. now here is the real question why are you changing sump locations? the rear sump pans were installed for clearance. they are hard to locate at times but they are still around if you have the extra change moroso makes a deep sump pan.
