I am having trouble finding touch up paint for my 1995 F150. The paint codes are UA (black) and WM (silver). You can look at my gallery. The colors are black and silver. The black is not much of a problem, but the silver which I believe is called opel gray or light opal or something like that is no longer available at the dealer. I'm a little irritated about that. If you ask me this is BS! If they made the vehicle they should offer the paint for it. I have tried the auto parts stores and they have a duplicolor light charcoal color that is YM and is too light. I was thinking that maybe a color from a different car company matches better. Does anyone know where I might be able to find the correct one or a close color?
Check with a local body shop. They will probably tell you about some little business in town they use and you never knew existed. I got two colors for my 1990 in spray cans. They mixed the paint to the factory specs, and put it in the spray can. Other than the old paint is faded a bit, it matches perfectly. Ran about $14 a can. Well worth it for the color match, and the fact that I waited 15 minutes while they did it.
Hey fmr9 great idea, but I already tried quite a few of those. Thats not to say that there isn't one around here though. I didn't want to mix up a pint of paint (thats the only option I found), I just needed a touch up pen or spray can.
I can't believe it. Paintscrach had it, and it was so easy. It did cost quite a bit more than a duplicolor paint pen though. As long as it is the right color.
I have the exact same color truck as you and had the same problem. I had some scratches at the bottom of my tailgate and wanted to just touch them up. I had a heck of a time finding the right color of silver. I ended up going to walmart and buy 4 cans of automotive silver and sprayed them on a scrap piece of metal. To my supprise, one of them matched pretty closely. I *think* it was sometime like light smoke metalic or somthing like that. I plan on repainting the truck in the next couple years. Anyway, good that you find the correct color on paintscratch.
I'm glad you found something that matched pretty good. I tried several things and nothing would come close. I noticed in your gallery that you mounted your tach in the same spot I put mine. I have the same tach also except mine is all black.
