Identifying an IDI
What is the fastest way to identify if the engine is an IDI. My truck had the engine replaced before I bought it but I'm not sure if it was replaced with an IDI.

The Indirect injected diesel (IDI) use the mechanical injection pump and injections. Just look for the Stanadyne Injetion pump that is bolted to the engine oil filler housing (center-front of engine). It has eight steel lines comming out of it running to the injectors on top of the intake manifold and one steel line running to the center from the fuel filter which is usually mounted above and behind the altinator.
