It looks like the emblems at fordemblems.com are just the factory ones with the paint removed. Or, are they metal, etc?

For a cheaper alturnative I found these on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/One-Pair-2-PCS-V10-Emblem-Badge-BMW-E60-5-Series-M5_W0QQitemZ190051200215QQihZ009QQcategoryZ33643QQ ssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
They belong on a BMW, but since it's only the letter V and Number 10 - I thought they would look pretty good on the X.

Anyone ever thought of (or done) removing the badges? I've stared at the huge "Excursion" badge on the fender and wondered what it would look like without it. Some may think I'm crazy, but I like the really clean look.

Wow! I didn't know they still attached badges that way. I figured it was stuck on with the double sided foam tape. Guess I've debadged too many GM products.

Did you do yours? If so, do you have any pictures.

Your are right the EX badges use double sided tape, it's just stupid Ford put 3 alignment holes in the fender to make it easier to get the badge level??? Just pull off the badge and put on the new one, it's a piece of cake. The holes do not help hold on the badge at all just the tape.........I was bummed because I pulled mine of and the truck looks better without that big ugly badge!!I replaced it with an all chrome badge, looks OK....

Thanks scottman. I was interested in taking the badge off for good. I guess that idea's out. Can't run around with holes in my fenders.....

Got the 6.0 style badges a couple years ago brand new from Ebay for $30 something shipped. A couple people have asked if the truck had a 6.0, I tell them of course not it's got the 7.3!!!

To stop the confusion been thinking about removing them and switching to the 7.3 style badges. Only thing is the red on the badges matches the custom painted rims on the X I bought used.
