accumulator/dryer orientation

accumulator/dryer orientation
Hey all,
I kind of got the a/c working in my truck, but before I write it off as fixed I have a stoopid question. OK, here goes: The P.O. did a lot of dumb things to the truck, including hacking the a/c lines with a sawzall. After getting some junkyard lines, sealing everything up and shooting some r12 into the system, the a/c seems to work.
I still need to pull a vacuum etc., but I was just staring at the engine compartment and noticed the accumulator/dryer is siting on its side, not up and down like on all the other trucks/cars I've seen.
Obviously one of the lines was too short and someone turned the accumulator on its side to accomodate this.
Will this affect a/c usage? I believe it will mess it up.
I can find a longer line somewhere around here I'm sure, but would like confirmation of my suspisions. Pics will be forthcoming.
Anythings appreciated,
Dave S
