Howdy,
What is involved in mounting a tube-type tire on a one piece rim? This will only be for a spare so it will be rarely, if ever, used. Is a flap needed? Any tips on the mounting process?
If you talking about a standard car or light truck wheel, no problem.
Remove the tubeless tire valve stem, mount the tire halfway on the rim, put the tube in the tire with the stem thrught the hole in the rim, it sometimes helps to put enough air in the tube to fill it out and prevent wrinkles but not too much.
finish mounting the tire being careful not to pinch the tube.
air the tire to recommended pressure, deflate and reinflate, you're good to go.
As an added thought, if you are putting a tube into a tubeless tire in order to save it, don't bother.
experience tells me that if a tubeless tire is bad enough to require a tube,it is damaged and in the long run, a waste of time and money, it won't last.
