heater problem

Please feel my pain. My daughter drives a 98 F-150. She told me that the heater was only blowing cold. I said it is summer and I will get to it eventually.
Two weeks later she tells me the coolant is low. I looked at the truck and coolant is leaking. So I ruined a weekend and changed the heater core. No more leak but still blows cold. I wish I checked this forum first and learned about a blend door actuator before I did the job. Before I take that dash out again, is there anyway to test it to make sure the actuator is bad? Should you hear the motor run when I move the temp ****? Thanks for your input.

you should here a change in air movement when it moves from cold to hot.

it could be the actuator

worse news, it could be the blend door
