1998 Ranger with obc P1401 code
I have a 1998 Ford Ranger with a 3.5 l engine and check engine light is on causing me to fail inspection. The odc code is P1401 and has to do with the emissions. Autozone told me it was a "manufacture code"" and only the dealership can determine the problem area. Their software had no explaination. Any help would be greatly appreciated.............and thanks in advance....bill

First, welcome to FTE!!!!
P1401 is the code for "insufficient EGR flow", and is usually caused by a bad DPFE sensor. I'm assuming your 3.5L is a typo, is this supposed to be 2.5L or 3.0L?

Great.....thanks for the assist. I will some more about this in the FAQ section of the website. I have been looking for assistance like this for a while............thanks again. P.S you are correct about the typo.......really 2.5 l.
