ok so i fixed my starting problem and now i need some help with carb problem. When im driving along then i press on the brakes to stop the truck stalls. Is this a simple low idle problem??? i find my idle is pretty high as it is about 2500rpm. i also took my smog pump off because i know its useless and i would like to have the space and i live in the middle of nowhere so i dont legally need it.
Sounds like it could be a leaking brake booster, leaking vacuum, or an anti stall dashpot of some kind if equipped.
Could also be out of adjustment carb, or various other problems.
I agree My PB booster had the same problem and ended up replacing it.Mine idles at a touch over 700 rpm I still have a vacuum leak.
Thanks Mil1on about the tip for the cruise control I need to check mine. I never thought to check that.
A vacuum reservoir is just that "a reservoir to hold a mass of vacuum "like a water reservoir (Dam).
any extra USE of vacuum by touching the brakes or using the Cruise or Air conditioning can lower the engine vacuum.
The reservoir is there to store vacuum for this "extra need of vacuum" without altering the operation of the engine .
Of course this only holds true if there AREN'T any vacuum leaks in vacuum system. ie: hoses, engine gaskets or the bottom of the carb seal to intake.
ok i think i have one theres a retangular box right near my passenger side fender. and all the vaccuum lines feed into it. I tried again whn i went home at lunch and i think its gettin better only stalled once going around the block.
so maybe my truck was a little shy from being parked for over a year 2 months ago
OK so ive taken the carb off and check all the vacuum lines, there is one thing i need to know what goes here?? I cant find any big lines that look like they go here and a vaccuum diagram is just confusing
