I'm in the market for a good AOD tranny for my old hauler. I'm located in central Texas. Does someone have good experience with a source for a GOOD, SOLID built AOD? The engine is a fresh rebuilt 302 with 351 valves in the heads and a nice Crane camshaft. It's a work truck, not a race truck. I need a sturdy tranny to pull trailers with. I paid a trans guy in Austin, Texas to rebuild my original one. He in turn gave me back someone elses, which had a broken locating lug. And then went on to claim that I broke it when taking it out. BullSh.T! I'm a 20+ year machinist that is much too **** to do something that stupid! Besides, I had stamped my original trans so it could be identiifed later.
$425.00 and it won't go into reverse! Thank God the SOB is out of business!
I don't mind paying good money for a good unit, but don't want to get screwed again.
FYI, the 425 price was the "buddy" deal. So I am aware that one that works right will cost much more than that.
