I have a customer requesting a 600+ stroker.
Wondering what everybody else has found.
so far 4.5" bore and 4.75" stroke.
How about an aluminum block?
What's the biggest combo you have found?
Didn't Dyno Don Nicholson used to run high deck Boss 429 engines in the 680+ cubic inch area? Okay, okay, I assume your customer wants to go further than 1/4 mile at at time. Just thought I'd throw that one in there. (Sigh, the good old days when you could order boss 429-based blocks, heads and intakes from your local Ford parts man)
The 600 plus blocks can be ordered but cost an arm and a leg. John Kasse sells the aluminum blocks with a 5 inch bore if your willing to pay the $6500 per block.
Tim I am not sure exactly what you are asking, I have seen as much as a 6" stroke using a 12" deck alum block (see links above for the Kaase engines) but on stock deck hieght to avoid custom intakes or spacers 4.5" is considered by many to be max although I have heard with clearencing you can run the 4.75" stroke. I think it's a matter of how much custom parts do you want to deal with and how much you want to keep the pin out of the ring pack.
you can take the A460 or IDT premier blocks out to 4.6" bore, with a 4.5" crank that is 598cid or with the IDT they claim 4.7" bore (I think that doesn't leave enough room between the cylinders but it can be done) so go with a 4.625 and make it 604. If your willing to pay for the custom crank rods and pistons, you could square it up at 4.6x4.6 making 611 cid.
but if you really want to go with the 4.75" stroke crank (bryant is the only one I know of that has them but I am sure you can get someone else to do it) You might give Jay at IDT a call and see if it will clear without clearencing. Otherwise you will almost certianly end up with one of the tall deck blocks which if I recall they are all alum only.
Go to the stroker kit section on the left hand tool bar. They have kits for 605, 621, and 806 CID. They also carry Eliminator blocks that will handle a 4.700 bore and 4.75 stroke.....that works out to a 659 max CID.
