what would you recomend? not looking to change the exhaust, just maybe a chip? or some other lite mods
how about removing the red vacumm line of the gate?
thanks
Start with gauges.First being EGT. A must if
you're installing a power adding chip/tuner. Add tranny temp and boost too help monitor things.

hey welcome to FTE. i recommend reading the last few pages of threads. you can learn alot in just a half hour or so of reading. there is a "rule of thumb" type of order of mods that you should do (best for the truck) before adding power.
1. gauges (a-pillar or digital monitor- EGT, boost, transmission temp (if automatic)
2. intake- Kwik filter/6637 open element filter for $20, or ultimate Ford AIS intake system
3. exhaust system- 4" exhaust or 5" exhaust, muffler delete for the cheap way.
now that you can get air in and out easily, and monitor it all, now it's time to add power.
4. Flash tuner such as a Diablosport Predator, Superchips Microtuner, Edge Evolution , a fueling box such as the Edge Juice/Attitude, or (IMO the best) a truck-specific chip by DPtuner (Jody Tipton) or TS performance chip.
5. if you have an automatic tranny, by now you will have a mushy feeling transmission, so add a valve body such as a BTS or Sonnax/Tricumulator springs
start penetrating ( ) the search feature, by using the terms i have bolded above. spend a few hours, days even, and come back if you should have any more questions. there are several threads on why one type of product is better than the other in all of their ways.
Keep it simple, most chips/tuners are easy inexpensive upgrade that you can do yourself. Most of the better name brands will improve fuel economy especially when matched with a high flow air filter. I recommend the Edge Evolution tuner, when ordered from BD Power we include the boost fooler for the wastegate. Gauges are good especially the Pyrometer and Transmission temp gauge, if you keep it on power level one or two you can get away without running gauges.
