Oil Temp Light

I have a 2000 F250 PSD. This has been the best truck i have ever owned, it has 140,000 miles. I drove it this morning and everything was fine. It was parked shut off for 2.5 hours, when I restarted it the "oil temp light" was on. I shut it off and restarted it again, the warning light went out after 10 seconds. Does anybody know what this light indicates or if i have a real problem. Is this a comon sensor to fail? Where is it located?

Did u get any trouble codes or the SES light coming on?It's a sensor located in the HPOP resevoir.

I have not checked for codes yet and no SES light. Does this sensor actually read the engine oil temperature?
