Selling question

I'm selling my truck. Do any of you try to sell between retail and private party or just go with the private party price? I know with gas prices, it will probably up for sale for some time but I'd like to move it so that would mean go low private party. Any ideas?

Private party price.

Think of it this way (or put yourself in their shoes), a person perusing the private market, will be expecting to pay the private market value. If he or she wanted to pay retail, he would be hitting the car lots. You are a private person. JMO

Makes sense. I've done a little car shopping lately and the prices seem to be above private party but below retail. Thanks for the replies.

To add to post #2, make sure you deduct the cost of any needed and reasonable repairs from that price or make repairs yourself before selling. Also, have a lookie in local pubs to see what similar vehicles are selling for in your local area.

Depends on the truck and what it is. Real late model stuff is bringing below private party, older stuff is bringing over. If it's exceptionally clean and straight, good miles, and older- it might be worth more than you think, even with current gas prices. One trend we've seen is folks hunting down the clean older trucks, and buying an econobox to go with it for commuting, instead of going for a later model ride.
