Well.. I have aquired another 88 F-250 Ext Cab 4x4 7.3 C-6... So far I believe the governer in the transmission is bad because the tranny will shift fine if you shift it manually, but if you put it in drive, it always wants to start in second gear.. you have to drop to first manually... Anyone know what else could cause this??
Second of all.. the rear end has been changed and is currently out of an 84 f-250. The gearing is definately off and I am looking for both a front and rear axle out of a newer f-350 so I can have a solid axle. Anyone know where there is any lying around??
Last of all... the gauges are a joke... the volt gauge is the only thing that is half accurate. The fuel gauge works on both tanks until you have about 1/2 a tank left then they go nuts till empty. My tach acts like it is bi-polar as well... The temp gauge works but it usually sits very low and occasionally it reads somewhat correct. Anyone know what this is all about??
Other than that, everything else is in good working order. Power windows and locks work, cold air, cruise works, the interior is in great shape, the body however is a typical example of the Illinois Rust Belt but that is trivial at the moment.......
Sounds like you have a bad modulator. Easy and cheap fix, about $15 for a new one. Pull the hose at the modulator and see if there's any tranny fluid in it. If so then it's bad. Of course check your vacuum lines.
