Throttle Control
Has anyone ever found a manual throttle control for the 7.3 IDI? I am going put an on board welder in and was wondering about a way to bump up the idle when needed.

Some guys use the fast idle solenoid set to your requirements and powered by a remote switch, if you leave the FIS and timing advance (T/A) in the power loop you need a diode/resistor??? to stop backflow of power to T/A solenoid, not needed during normal running. Kinda Mickey mouse....

like pl stated, you could use the fast idle solenoid with remote switch, but need a diode to make sure the electric doesnt go backwards thru the system OR you could manufacture a second mounting plate and mount your own solenoid to the throttle.

I used a separate solenoid on my truck... it is great in the morning to warm the truck up and for use with my PTO as well... I have heard of using a diode and the fast idle but I don't like parts pulling double duty... On my other idi.. I have been thinking of installing a cruise control unit out of a big truck.... That way I will have cruise and a fast idle all in one... that unit from the local Kenworth dealer is a little better than $100... its worth it to me but another solendoid may work better for you..
