Fan clearance

I'm doing an electric fan setup with my 1990 302; clearance will be an issue, there is 4.2" cleance between pulley and rad. I've searched the forum, looks like slimline may be an option, but the thinnest fan I can find is 3.25; wil this be enough clearance, with fan flex under load ?

The fan should have its own brackets that set the distance it needs to be from the radiator. Also you might take a look at a salvage yard and find a set of twin fins that might fit. It would move the motors off to the sides so they are not next to the water pump pulley.

3.9 and 4.25 are standard fan thicknesses. I use a 16" Trimline fan (3.9 thick) mounted directly to the radiator using those wire-tie-like thingies thru the radiator. Works fine. Lots of room.

I'm using a Vintage Air 16". Here's a pic:

I've got about 1" of clearance but I have my fan off center to avoid the water pump pulley.

Fan clearance

Thanks for all the input; I bought a fan today and fabricated the brackests to mount it to the rad shroud. Looks like I'll have enough room, with fan close to rad. I went with a thermostatic control also; have not yet thought out the mounting of it. I'll post a picture later in my gallery.
