'93 has 3-digit codes, so code 33 is not valid. You could have a bad TPS, coil, ECM, cracked head, blown head gasket, we can't see the truck, so you have to give us more info than "runs bad and dies." Your inertia switch could be tripped, too.
Jason
Some trucks still had the EEC computer through 1994, the EEC had a two-digit code. They also had the PCM Computer in '93 with the 3-digit codes. It would depend on what transmission he has.
He would not have fuel pressure if the inertia switch was tripped.
The 33 means that the EGR valve is not opening, could be a vacuum leak.
A vacuum leak would cause it to run like this but the not opening would not cause it.
Subford, I missed the FP thing. Good catch. I also ASSuMEd that his truck was basically the same as my '93 F250 351...which has 3-digit codes. Plus, if he's NOT throwing codes, and wasn't used to reading them, the all-clear code of 111 (blinked out twice) could easily look to the novice like a code 33.
Wildrebel, what about the cap, rotor and ignition coil? Were those changed when it was tuned up? (I know the coil isn't normally a tune-up item). What transmission do you have?

Good Point, if has the an electrically controlled transmission then he would have the PCM with the three-digit codes.
The trans its a auto i think is a c6 trans i'll look latter.coil was not replaced. bacis tune up. when i have the truck running there is no check engine light only when i have the key in on postion gonna check the plugs see if they fouled out or not.
A C6 would have the two-digit codes with the EEC Computer. Try opening the hood at night and start the engine, see if you see sparks jumping. Did it start this right after you did the tune up?
how fast did your fuel pressure drop off when you just used the key?
Your code 33 could be vacuum leak somewhere. Check all the super thin (and brittle) plastic vacuum lines that run from the vacuum tree on the back of the drivers side valve cover. Heat kills these plastic tubes much faster than the big rubber ones.
Your air filter would have to be almost completely clogged but the then the computer would still know how much air it was getting, so no. Not really.
the pressure stayed a couple min when only used the key.on the shifer it has a off for overdrive
Then you do not have a C6. You have more than likely an E4OD Transmission and it is computer controlled by the PCM. The PCM type has three-digit codes.
So your 33 is more than likely as jroehl said the all-clear code of 111 (blinked out twice), could easily look like a code 33.
got it started but when you press the gas it dies out what could that be.
Do you have black smoke out the tail pipe when it dies?
OK no codes, good fuel pressure, has spark, will not run when you press the gas pedal.
1. Check and make sure the vacuum line is hooked up to the MAP sensor.
2. Make sure you have a good body ground.
3. Make sure you have a good PCM ground.
4. Make sure the EGR valve is closed.
5. Make sure you have no Vacuum leaks.
6. Make sure the cats are not plugged.
If above OK then you could have a bad TPS or ECT sensor.
