Fog light replacement bulb question
I have a 2005 screw 4x4 with factory fog lights. I had a bulb blow on the fog lights. I couldn't find an exact replacement bulb,but I did find one with the same base. Will it hurt my light housing if I use a 60 watt bulb instead of a 42 watt bulb(a 9005 instead of a 9145)?I intalled GE nighthawk bulbs.BTW, what a difference the new bulbs make! Thanks.

instead of a fog light bulb, I put in a single filament high beam bulb (60 watts-I believe they were 9005???) They dont hurt it, but the lifetime of the two bulbs are extremely comparable. The 60watt bulb has a lifetime of about 35 hours (you never really leave the high beams on all the time) and the reg fog light bulbs has about 350 hours. I notice a difference with the 60 watt in my fog lights and that is considering that I have HIDs in my headlights. So the fogs are def worth doing and it hasnt hurt anything mechanical wise. As long as you dont put a bulb that has 100watt or above (those cheap APC blue bulbs), you won't melt the harness or the housing. Have fun!!

Thanks. I didn't think there would be any major differences. In my 97 150, I put the off road headlights in (85/110 w) and they didn't hurt the lights.The new fog lights do make a major improvement at night.

My left side fog light blew twice. I found replcement bulbs from Advance. The glass from the bulb and a black residue film coats the inside of the light housing. I can't seem to get the lens cover off to clean it.
