short or long tail on tranny
I have a c4 out of a 1979 LTD along with the 302. Going to go into my 66 f100. Does it matter if i have long or short tailshaft? If so, what one bolts in? Long or short?
Also, I have new motor mounts for a 302. But, my question is this- the perches for a 302 are different, right? They need to be out of a truck? Get perches and right tailshaft. Those two main things i am tring to figure out.
Thnks all!

You will need the perches from a truck with the small block engine. You will need to refit the drive shaft regardless so you can use the transmission you have and when the installation is complete measure the driveshaft and have one built. If your truck is a long bed you can use the two piece or with a long tail transmission you can use a one piece shaft. Honestly, the drive shaft is the least of the issues you will encounter doing this swap. Good luck and keep us posted. We like to know how this comes out.

Thanks William.
In all of the posts mentioning the 302 going into our trucks with a c4/c6, i have not found any reference to replacing the driveshaft(s). Is that correct? Either way, long or short tailshaft on my c4 tranny, I will have to have a new driveshaft fabricated?
Just to reiterate, either way, i have to have a new dirveshaft manufactured or cut down?
Some times i am so dense I have to have it spelled out to me very clear!
Pound it into my head....
thansk again!
