Wouldn't you have had to change your crankshaft as well? The cam shouldn't be the only reason your firing order changed.
Nope, cam makes the firing order, the 302/5.0 changed it's firing order as well, supposed to make better main bearing wear. As for records, I claim all this on my taxes & I have to keep reciepts for my rich uncle. It's just with 14 cars I hate to mix & match stuff on the ones I drive. Guess I'm out in the feild by myself on this one...
302 and 351 cranks have the pistions in the same location, so only a cam swap was needed. At the time I rebuilt the motor I know exacly what lift and duration i wanted but it was not made for the 302 and i was going to have it custom ground but found a 351 cam with .002 more lift and 1 deg of duration so in it whent.
I was wondering if the Conversion is also for 4 Wheel Drives ?
Cause I have a 1964 Ford F100 4x4. I checked out the ECI webpage and found the conversion kit, but it only says 1/2ton which I have but its a 4Wheel drive. I was wondering if it is also compatible with 4 wheels drives. Thank You
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 12-Oct-02 AT 11:44 PM (EST)]I too have wanted to put discs on the front of my 65, but when the time, and the money come, I know enough people with enough donor vehicles, that front discs are already being planned. My question is, what about the rears? I think that would be really trick, and I have heard that there were some 70s Lincolns that would work for a donor 9 inch. I wouldn't mind a steeper gear, but it can't be by too much. Any info will be appreciated.
I found this place that sells rear disc kits. www.quickperformance.com They get $199 for a kit and an additional $179 if you want an emergency brake. I don't remember if it was available in the 5x5 1/2" bolt pattern though.
Some places sell the rear disc brake conversion kits for a decent price. I have found a few places that redrill chevy rotors and make their own brackets with a hack saw so keep that in mind when you are looking around for a kit. As for the older Lincoln rear ends with disc brakes, think about the bolt pattern issue. Most of those rear ends have the 5 or 4 1/2 inch lug pattern. Keep that in mind when you are planning. Just a few more thoughts to ponder.
