timing chain sprocket help???
im changine the timing chain today on my 360 fe, the problem is that the timing chain that came off the truck has a rod attached to the cam sprocket.it goes into the cam to stay hold.the one we got from the auto stores has a hole but no rod??????whats the problem ??did the rod brake of the camshaft???or does some one sell a sprocket like the one im mentioning???any help apreciated.

I think the 'rod' you are talking about is actually a locating dowel. It is suppossed to be in the end of the camshaft. If you pull it out of the old sprocket and gently tap it back into the cam, you will be in business. Good luck.

Ford still sells them. Some of the aftermarket ones are shorter and don't engage the cam sprocket far enough. They come with new cams when you buy them no so much timing sets. Ford part # 73357-S locator # N-87-C.
