Took the plunge and went with 19.5" wheels on my truck. Bought the white powdercoat (to match) from Rickson. ( http://www.ricksontruck.com/ ) Very impressed with the quality. Smooth welds, beautiful finish. Only took a few weeks from the time I ordered until their arrival.
Put Goodyear G159s on. 265/70R19.5 with G load range.
Hauled my first load with them today. Two 2400 pound pallets of peat moss. No sway, so squish. I am satisfied.
Pics of my truck at the Rickson site. Link on right "customer trucks". Under Ford SRW.
You wont be disappointed. The 19.5s are a great way to go, especially if you tow or haul heavy fairly often. Not to mention the fact that they look great on our trucks!
Glad that you like 'em. I've been running them for about 4 years now. Back then I had to wait 5 months for the delivery. I'll be curious as to what you think of their affect on your trucks braking ability.
With regard to the braking ability, today's trip was only about 35 miles (loaded), so not the best test. However, the peat moss plant does have a long gravel driveway. With my old 16" wheels & tires it seemed that I would slide down that slope...tires pushing the gravel out of the way. The 19.5s gripped better and did not skid. In that respect braking was much better!
The one aspect that stood out today was during lane changes at speed. Very stable and controlled. Pallets are not high (about 4 feet), so this was not really a top heavy load. HUGE difference in handling during lane changes versus the 16s.
Plus (as mentioned), they really do look nice on these trucks!
