If it is the switch where is it in the truck? My chiltons book doesnt show where it would be or what it looks like but im guessing this is what it may be?thanks any ifo will help.
The switch is part of the multi-function switch on the steering column, which has the wiper, turnsignals, hazards, and high-low beam switch all made together.
It uses a resistance value sent to the wiper module to tell the module what function you want.
I would go out to the wiper motor, and make sure you have voltage on the darkgreen wires.
oh boy i dont have a voltage meter.but i was reading some old post so i bought the switch so i know what it is now.now i have to figure out how it goes on.if it still doesnt work after i get it on then it must be the wiper motor those are about 125 bucks but if i need one i guess ill have to buy it.is there anyplace i can find out how to put the switch on at all?thanks
How about you spend your $10 on a voltmeter before u spend it on a puller... I'd get a junkyard wiper motor if you have power to the wires going to it. If not, it's the switch
ok i didnt get a chance to work on it today.I will get a voltmeter if you can tell me how I test the motor? My trucks a 95 f 250 it has wires that plug into the motor.what type of voltmeter should i get and where can i get one walmart or an auto parts store?thanks
A cheap one will work for now. Just make sure it has a dc scale on it. If you do not want to get a meter, you can get what they call a testlight. It's just a light that will glow when you touch it to a powered wire.
the test light sounds easy to use.where would i touch it to inside the connectors?and if it doesnt light then i need a new motor?..anyway the local junk yard wanted 40.00 for a used motor i thought that was kinda high for a junk yard one.
Some of the testlights have a sharp point on them, so you can hook the clip to a good metal ground, and then just poke the wire through the insulation with the sharp point.
ok i got a test light today at pep boys it says to ground the clip part of it and then point and touch the probeto the point being tested.bulb will light it voltage is present it says.red light indicates pos polarity and green light indicates neg polarity.it comes to a fine point on the end of it.im guessing i touch someplace inside the wiper motor to do this?not really sure how.i know you say poke the wire but the wire clip has about 9 wires going to the wiper motor what one do i poke? unless i bought the wrong tester? thanks for your help.
