I need to find a set of pull handles that I can mount on the windsheild pillar. My wife has trouble everytime she gets in and out of our 86 F250 4x4. I get after her for using the steering wheel. I thought a set of pull handles mounted on the windsheild pillar would give her something to pull on. I know Dodge has them in their newer model pickups. I just am looking for something simple and clean. Any ideas would be greatly apreciated. THANKS.

Can you adapt some from the newer F250/350? out of the salvage yards?

Thanks, Old Tired Rebel, I didn't know Ford also used them. I'll go by my local Ford Dealer and take a look at them and see if they can be fit. Tells you how long it has been since I looked at a new Ford.

if your worried about the size look at the newer rangers also i had them in my 98 and they were quit small should do the trick. then what i would do is just weld a small plate inside the pillar moulding to the pillar from on the truck drill the holes and use clip nuts to hold the handle on. i plan on doing this in my 85 f350 cause im to short to just climb in i have to jump and its on a 2x4.
I went into town this PM to the Ford dealer and looked at the different trucks, The Explorer & Mountaineer. looked like they may work. The parts dept said they would order one so I can check. It's $28, but the nearest wrecking yard is 60 miles away, So it will be just as cheap to pay the dealer $28.
Thanks Guys.

I as a rule don't remember to take pictures, but I'll ask my wife to remind me, then someone can help me post them. If we forget, email me and remind me.
Thanks, Craig
The partsman here at the Ford dealer is pretty much old school, I asked him about the bigger trucks and he seemed to think as I also did that they where metel outside. One reason I wanted to try and adapt one out of a car or truck was because of having to mount it near the windshield the newer cars are padded for better grip and they won't burn her hands in the heat of summer.
Thanks for the thought.
It great to get an old school parts man. Few and far between nowdays.
I don't know if it had an interior one or not. 1999 was the last year of the cabs that were simular to ours, and perhaps they made an interior one in that position that would fit our pickup trucks.
1999 is pretty late model still, (well to me ) and it would make some sence to design one. Don't mean they did though. I'll do some research. Love doing research.
It was an Idea, and you are probably correct. I think it was metal on the outside now. It didn't conduct heat though I would have noticed on that day at the wreckers 104ºF.
Just did some research on the web, and couldn't find any mention of one for the inside anywhere until the 2000 model year. That's when the cabs switched to the newer one like on the 2000 F-250/F-350 super duties.
Tons of trucks 1980 to 1999 with the outside handle you don't want.
