OK, on my 92 F150 I have a steering stabilizer kit mounted. I took off the strut and ordered a new one. The new one came but looks like it is too long. The cylindar is 12" long (nut to nut). The wheels are almost straight and I need to struggle to get the new shock in betweek the existing brackets to fit. This doesn't seem right.
I have the same kit I need to mount on my 95 F250.
Does anyone have one of these kits (this is the one made by Rancho), if so, how long is the cylindar for the strut?
When the wheels are straight, are you connecting to the tie rod when it the shock is half depressed?
When the wheels are straight the shock is depressed about 95%, so when I turn to the right the shock will extend but when I turn to the left I won't be able to go all the way because the shock will get depressed all the way just as the tires straighten out.
I've never seen one shorter than 12". That would give you 6" of travel each way. Seems like bare minimum to me. Can you shift your brackets to make the new one fit?
Also if your 95 has a front sway bar you need a special kit for it.
