Support my axle !!!!

Status report on "The 65 Beast Money Hole"
1. Engine done-has reached raped ape status

2. Interior done exept for carpeting (read floor pans or lack thereof)

3. Found a cherry (not mint) 66 chrome grille in junkyard for $50, cleaned up
and installed.

4. Beauty rings and moons installed. Still searching for Cragar SS rims.

5. All body trim polished to almost new shine. Another Sunday of my life gone.
Still missing drivers side hood piece and fender emblems. Been lurking on
ebay and in classified section here.
6. Belly of "The Beast" has been blasted or sanded or ground and undercoated
or painted. Proudly told my "financial advisor" that you could eat off the
frame and it was indicated that's where I WOULD be eating my supper if I
didn't start spending some "her" time.

Which brings me to my next question on the forum for you gurus:

While in "The Belly of the Beast", there is a bar of some sort which I assume to be a torsion bar, running from right rear frame to the top of my rear end. (not mine, the truck's). I figured it's a axle support to keep it from wrapping up during hard accelerations ( not that a Slick driver would ever do that !!!)
The problem is that it's not hooked to the rear end. There seems to be no mounting stud on the pumpkin. I figure the axle has been replaced at some point. Is there a source to get a new stud ( my wife would probably like THAT) other than junkyard and is that how it hooks to axle. The eye in bar has a rubber sleeve, so I assume it's a stud similar to a shock mount.

As always, thanks in advance to you gurus, and a big Waynes World " We're Not Worthy!!!!" *****

If it's parallel to the rear end it's a Panhard bar. Keeps the truck centered over the rear end on corners and bumps. Probably an add-on, not Ford factory stuff. Well worth getting someone to weld a bracket to the housing and make it functional.

If it goes front to rear, it is as you figured for axle wrap issues, I helped swap in a 9" from a Lincoln once to a buddies truck, and it had the brackets on the housing itself for that, junkyard might have the jewel you are after.
