...Welcome to Ford Truck Enthusiasts!
It will help you a bit around FTE to not use capitol letters….makes it tuff to read…..however let’s get you an answer and get that problem resolved.
See you on the boards. ….
The # 45 fuse is labeled "Ignition switch Run/Start feed". It is a 10amp fuse and probably has nothing to do with your trailer. It could be a bear to find the problem. Sounds like a short that sometimes occurs when you move something. Sounds like you brake pedal would be a good place to start looking. Also if you are moving you transmission selector when it happens, it could be in the ignition wiring on the steering wheel column. If you can isolate what movement is causing the short, it will narrow down you search. If not, it will not be easy to locate. I think you will find a wire with a bare spot that is close to a ground that when moved in the right direction touches the ground and blows your fuse. If you believe your brake pedal is the problem, start there.
Good luck and let us know what you find.
zx ,the wiring has changed alot since 99.
yes fuse 45 is in the start circuit.
But from there things have changed due to 4w abs and other engine combo's
One thing i've learn from trouble shooting on this site is to get all basic's first
Agreed, His profile shows he has a 2002 F250. On the Ford Fleet site owners manual is where I got the fuse info. True, the more info he gives the more we/ya'll can help. Maybe he will come back with more info.
hi this is tride46 the fuse has only blown 3 times and every time after come to a stop the last time i drove up in the drive way every thing was fine turn truck of next morning the fuse was blown no gauges and no throtle. i don't know when i pulled the car trailer the fuse didn't blow but truck died three times at idle i restarted it each time and steped on the brake and truck died before i could put it in gear then after i removed trailer it died again with out trailer being connected but when i steped on brake but before puting in gear this has not happen again puzzled
this is tride46 i found the problem it was the wire that leads from the overdrive lockout the wire runs over the shifter slector rod and down the column every time you move the shifter to put the truck in gear the wire rubs against the shifter rod and has wore a bare spot in the wire. bad design on fords part!!!!
