I use mice poison bought at a feed store that works well. I put it under my house and don't have pets to worry about that might eat the dead ones.
I also went around and stuffed every opening I could find with steelwool and very rarely see one in my house. It's amazing how small of a hole the little boogers can get through.

Our house is only 5 years old but, we a live within 300 yards of a lake and have a huge amount of field mice. Now we are getting them in the garage and attic (don't know how the heck they are getting in there).

Anyway, figured for 30 bucks I would invest in one of those sonic gizmo's for the garage. Never got a chance to find out if it works 'cause the sound irritates the momma...and we all know, if the momma ain't happy, etc. etc. So now, I am gonna try it in the attic.

In the mean time, I thought I would throw a few moth ***** in their special little hiding places in the garage. Well, I don't know about the mice but, it sure kept me out of it for the first few days. I only put about a dozen moths ***** in this 3 car garage...and with 100 + degree weather the fumes would burn my eyes so bad you couldn't spend more than a couple of minutes in there with the doors closed.

So, about those claymores.....

I bought a catch-all mouse trap.
It's a tin box with little doors on each end
You just butt it up against a wall and the mice go in but can't get out.

They hold up to a couple dozen meeces

I couple that with traps in amongst the cans of food in the walk in pantry in the basement.
Plus, the plug-in sonic mouse preventers in strategic upstairs loations.

Yeh, it is too bad that cats don't work well any more. It is not that the mice are tougher or getting hybrid. But the darn cats have interbred with the domestic *****, freakin' city cats, so now they are scared of their own shadow.
Man, I remember the days when you would not even think of picking up a farm cat. Hell that thing would rip you a new a$$h*0$. I mean those cats would kill anything that walked, crawled, or scooted on its bottom! Hell, we had 0 mice on our ranches with cats like that!
