Any tips on making the 6.0 live? What milage can I expect to get?
Quite a few guys have found out the hard way.
Keep an eye on your coolant bottle ,more than one guy has had headgasket problems with the 6.0.

As for mileage, are you referring to lifetime or fuel economy? There are a couple members well above the 250,000 mile mark. As for the latter, the general concensus seems to be around 13-16 city & 17-21 highway. Heavily loaded, the reported mileage figures vary quite a bit...I'd suppose that's do to the terrain, weather, wind, and drivers.

Seriously though, keep it well maintained, keep it under warranty, and don't chip it or otherwise try to get the absolute most out of it. Drive it like a diesel with a turbo. As in, not too many short stop-and-go's, don't get off the highway towing heavy and immediately shut it down and go into the diner, etc

You might want to look through the 6.0 forum's tech tips, there you will find things to do upfront, things to look for, and tricks to keeping it running a long time! It's always good to be educated about what COULD go wrong, so that you can keep an eye out for the early warnings and take care of problems before they become BIG problems.
Good luck with your new Ford! You came to the right place
Loaded 11 grown cows on my srw and the truck was setting on the frame stops. The stock has cut of 12',12' and 8' but we had 4 baby calves that hadto go in the 8' so that put all the cows in frontof the axels. Unhooked the trailer and hooked to a 350 drw flat bed carried the load with no problem. Skirted bed with toolboxes in front of tires gooseneck hitch and reciver hitch built in.
The bed is a 9' flatbed made by Gooseneck trailers in Bryan Tx.
