I have a 1996 F 150 4x4 regular cab long box with a 351 W and auto trans.
It has 3.08 gears and I want to tow a car trailer with 4000 # load.
I will not use over drive, but is it still geared to high?
150 mile round trip on fairly flat ground.
You will probably be ok, but it is going to be lacking alot of power. Once you get to highway speed you can maintain it but getting there will take a while. If you are going to be making a trip like this often you might want to think about 3.55's or even 3.73's.

I am replacing a 3/4 two wheel drive with 460 and 3.35 gears.
Looking for gas mileage? Really happy with 460 but it runs about 8-9 mpg.
