check out longislandperformancediesel.com go to the ford section and check out the turbo upgrade for the 6.0 sounds good wondering if anybody is running an aftermarket turbo yet. if you are share some info. enjoy
in the summer of 06' edition of diesel world they have an article on the ats unit . the mag article says it is a vgt unit i didn't see it on their website though maybe i'm blind
i saw on the ats website about an aurora 2000 kit but it has been on there for a while and has always said coming soon so i dont know what the hold up is for their turbo. on beans diesel performance website he had something about a turbo upgrade a while back for the 6.0 but now i dont see anything except coming soon turbonetics turbos and intercoolers. so i went to the turbonetics website and i dont see anything for the 6.0 but they dont have an online catalog. its like a wild goose chase.
I've been checking with ATS and Beans. ATS is supposed to have the Aurora 2000 out for the 6.0 soon and Beans has a Bat 65 out soon. I haven't found anything else, but not looking too hard yet. Don't have the money for a turbo yet.
i called ats about their turbo and the aurora 2000 will not be a variable vane turbo. they say it will be a performance upgrade over the stock turbo though and will have no lag (for towing), also they will have an aurora 5000 that will have low end lag set up for racing lots of high end boost, then they will have the MTS which is a variable geometry turbo but the variable part isnt the vanes its on the inlet to the turbo. other than that he couldnt tell me much guess i need to call back and talk to someone with a little more info on the turbo options for the 6.0
Are you guys running a new fuel system? without it, a turbo does very little. With an SCT you can max out your stock injectors and still have little smoke. An aeromotive pump and some larger fuel lines will even help a truck with stock injectors! With an extreme race program you can fall under 40 psi of fuel, and thats not good on injectors, nor is it giving you power.
Lots of people are having injector issues once they put larger ones in, but i think its due to them starving them for fuel. Tadd, at ats is working on a VVT, and it should be out soon. He has the aurora 5000 on his truck and is getting the pedistal machined. Beans current turbo is not any stronger than stockl, since it uses the stock thrust bearings and mostly stock compnents. And dont pay 1500 for it when you can buy the same turbo from the guy bean buys it from for 500 bucks.
