I had a similar problem to yours with the cooling system. I first bought this truck a few months ago and the temp would always read between the A and the L of normal. I wanted to start from a "clean slate" so I replaced the radiator and the thermostat...the previous owner replaced the fan clutch. Even after this the truck still ran between A and L. I ended up throwing in a mechanical water temp gauge, to find out that the truck NEVER has run past 200 deg...even though the stock gauges are reading a little hot.
Before you spend anymore time or money on this rig, I recommend spending $30 on a water temp gauge. Good luck.

Yea I just got a mechanical one and installed it. Im flushing the radiator now, the first of the fluid that came out looked ok, the last part however has some gunk in it, doesnt look like its been flushed in awhile.
Once im done ill post the temps im getting with the gauge (was a 16$ one). I put it where the factory sender unit is and left the sender units wire hanging there. Hopefully that wont come back to haunt me with an engine light.
