hi everyone i have been haveing problems with both my passenger and driver side power windows. they both started making a whining noise kinda like a sliping noise when i try to roll them up or down like wer wer wer wer and i have to help them up and down by hand. also u can roll them down just by pulling them up or down by hand without pushing the motor button. i guess what im trying to get to is is it the regulaters or the motor or both thats the problem? i need to know whats sliping asap so i can replace it so i dont have to worry about someone breaking in. thanks.
there are bushings in the motor that wear out. you can find them on ebay for $5. then just remove door panel , grind down or take a chisl to the rivits and pull the glass and motor out. its not to hard. then just some bolts when you reinstall the motor/window
Wow, didn't realize the 87-91's were so much more difficult to get at the window motors. I've never had to deal with the rivets or any of the rest of the window mechanism when replacing them in my 92 & 93. I am assuming they are the same Delrin pins that are in the rear window motor gearhead as mine are.
actually i did replace both motors today in each door with new ones and i had to cut some of the door out to get to the bolts holding the motor to the regulator. only took about 5 min with a hacksaw for a little 2x2 piece cut out. turned out though it was the motors and im quite pleased. i got the motors at LMC because they are about 15 minutes away from my house lucky me. thanks a lot to you guys!
Those rivets are threaded with a nut on the inside of the door on my 93. I was about to drill out the rivets, but then I reached inside through the hole with the speaker removed and discovered that the rivets were just headless bolts with a nut to hold the motor so I just kept it the way it was. Too late now I know but I just though i'd through that out there.
