I have a '66 F100 style side. When driving my wonderfully old truck, my passenger door rattles. I am assuming its the latch mechinisim. But I was wondering about other possibilities. I can grab the door shake it when I am not driving and get the same rattle. It seems to be the latch/lock mecinisim in the door.
In addition to this I was wondering if there was anything else that might make it do this.
It is probably not the hinges, but more likely needs an anti-rattle kit and new door seals, that rubber gasket that surrounds the door opening. If they have never been replaced then that is most likely the cause of the rattle. My 66 does the same thing. I have all the parts just not the time to fix it. Dennis Carpenter should be able to provide all the parts needed to reseal the doors.
Pull the inspection cover and check the steel channel that holds the window felt channel. These tend to seperate at the spot welds. Solder will cure this.
