Hi there I have a 86 f150 with 115000 miles and its hesitating and knocking. I just replaced the fuel pressure regulator and fuel filter, cap, rotor and spark plugs because it was dying out. The hesistation went away for a day or son but then went right back to hesitating. In the morning it seems better but as the day goes on it starts to get worse. Also uphills or trying to make a pass seems bad and when given full throttle i even here a knock? Also if you dont press the accelerator much it does ok
Thaks for any advice

Try changing the fuel filter in the round black canister on the middle driver side of the frame. i had the same problem with my 86 and that cleared the problem..
Very interesting. Maybe change it one more time. If it does the same thing again, you might have crap in your gas tank and your filter is just doing its job (saving your engine!)
Did i mention i took it to the shop to have it looked at becasue it got real bad and they replaced the fuel pressure regulator, cap, and spark plugs and it was 100 percent better than 2 days later it idles alot better and doesnt die out very much but it stills hesitates when given full gas and if you press it real hard it goes bam.>>>>>>
I didnt mean the inline silver fuel filter. There is a round black canister that sits on the frame rail about just underneath the driver seat. It unscrews like a jar top and has a little round filter in it. Local parts store should carry that filter.
Its not pressurized but will leak gas while its open so have a bucket ready. It unscrews and is usually hard to turn. Be carefull when putting the new O-Ring in as it will tear easy..
