Verify the battery condition by having the battery tested and as mentioned previously have the charging system tested.
Check and clean the battery connections.
Negative battery cable at the engine and at the battery post.
Positive battery cable, battery cable at the starter relay (starter solenoid) and battery post; and battery cable at the starter relay (starter solenoid) and the starter.
verify the starter is mounted correctly and the bolts are snugged down. Make sure the starter and bolts are making a clean ground connection to the transmission.
If any engine oil is leaking on starter, the internals of starter is probably contaminated with oil in the starters winding and bushings. This could result in the starter to be faulty.
Starter is new. I made a heat shield out of some jet engine heat shield material I dug out of a scrap bin at work. I will look for the stamping on the alternator, and check the voltage at the battery. Wires to the solenoid, the starter and from the batt ground to the block are new. My truck would eat the a/c blower relay so many times from current draw that I left it out and started stuffing a piece of 12 ga. copper wire in the female contacts whenever I wanted the blower to run (yes I am lazy, but my meds mellow me so much I don't care). I will look for some hi temp spade lugs and add a toggle switch. I appreciate the help, ya'll!
