Engine rebuild

Finally, after 6 years or so of losing track of time and enthusiasm and interest and money. I went down to drop off my flywheel to have new ring gear put on it and the guy is done with my 352/390 conversion. He needs to tally the final bill and I'm gonna go in Saturday to pick it up. It's only been 5 months or so, hopefully he doesn't treat all his customers like this. It looks really good. I'll post pictures on the website on Saturday and I'll post what was done to it.

P.S. What do you guys think about this setup? Summit Header, muffler kit.

congrats on the motor. but im not sure on the mufflers. i was gonna take mine to the shaop and have it done, i was thinking flowmaster mufflers, but the crowning glory was going to be electric cutouts dumping just in front of the rear wheels from Summit. Sweet sweet sound.

Now flowmasters is a sweet sound. I'm running 3" all the way to the back. 3" into the flowmasters and 3" out. The tips I have are 2" x 8" gives an awsome look from the back and sounds great too. I've got a couple of pictures in my gallery that you can look at.

Iv had my flowmasters 40's since the mid to late 90's. they were on my cobra, then I adapted to my slick . Just have one on it at the moment, duals will come later.
people comment on its sound all the time as it is.

It's Here!!!!

OK, I finally got it out of "storage?" Well, it seemed that way as machine shop had it for 6 months.

Here's what was done(per the receipts):

Labor
1. Cleaned and Mag'd
2. Decked
3. Bored and honed
4. R&R cam bearings
5. R&R pistons
6. resize rods (I got reman rods I think, so I don't understand)
7. R&R pin bushings
8. grind crankshaft (I got a used 390 crank)
9. resurface flywheel and re-ring
10. clean and mag'd heads
11. resurface heads
12. R&R valve guides
13. Valve job
14. Assemble

Parts
1. engine kit (pistons, rings, rod & main bearings, cam bearings, gaskets, oil pump, timing set, freeze plugs, comp cam '268H-10', and lifters)
2. 390 crank
3. 390 connecting rods
4. int & exh valves
5. valve springs
6. push rods
7. oil pump drive???
8. harmonic balancer seal sleeve
9. cam thrust plate (it was broke)
10. fuel pump eccentric kit (I had converted to elec pump)
11. reconditioned rocker arm shafts
12. Edelbrock Performer 390 intake
13. flywheel ring gear

I thought the time to finish was excessive and price was a bit high $2986 but I didn't break a sweat with all this work and didn't even get dirty.

I do have some stuff for sale if anyone is interested, buyer will pay shipping you let me know how much you want to pay I won't be too picky.
1. 352 2V intake
2. cam thrust plate
3. 352 connecting rods (they've been cleaned, not sure what else)
4. 2 barrel carb (needs to be gone through, I rebuilt it but it's been setting)
5. 352 crankshaft (appears in good shape, would probably need to be resurfaced)

I can send pictures of the parts if you're interested.

P.S. Some pics in my album and all pics at my website http://www.azcyberspace.com/65ford.php

Took to long but pricing is close to what you would pay around here and then do the installation yourself! I'd want a lot of information about the pistons and balancing the rotating assembly. I don't think they did that or they would have needed the flywheel? Drive it and enjoy it! Just checked out your pictures (excellent), really nice looking old Ford!

I had forgot about the flywheel until a couple of weeks ago and the engine was already assembled for the most part.
Thanks for the nice comment, yeah I've been dragging it around for 6 years now and couldn't bear to part with it. Although I came close a couple of times.

Ok, I've got the engine mounted but I don't like the looks of my clutch linkage. Anyone got a picture of how theirs is set up? Mine seems to be really loose where it mounts to the frame.

As a side note, got my motor mounts turned around backwards... mulled it over long and hard before finally mounting them and putting the engine in. After a little celebration that the engine was back in, crawled underneath to mount the transmission. CRRRRAAAAAAAPPPPPPP. It's about 1 inch off at the mounting holes. I gotta lift the engine tomorrow and reverse them mounts. A picture before I took them off would have been beautiful last weekend.
