I have a 2000 Mercury Mystique that in the morning after I first start it and drive about 5 to 6 miles it shuts off like i ran out of gas. I turn key on and off to like prime fuel pump and continues to start and stall, but after about 7 to 8 minutes of doing this it will start and be perfectly fine for the rest of the day without problems. Anyone have any problems like this or know what might be causing the problem....looks like fuel pump looks new date of manufacture 7-21-04 and fuel filter looks new.
No it does it after it sits all night and you start it in the morning and drive it...never tried letting it sit and run for awhile...some morning it will run rough and other mornings will run fine...I'm way up north on the canadian border, in a small town called Limestone where Loring Air Force Base use to be
Does this car have an oil pressure gauge? If it does, does it drop out before the car stalls, or does the oil pressure light come on at any time before the car stalls? Does the tachometer do anything weird?
One test I would try is to wire in a noid light in the fuel pump circuit, drive the car, and see if the light shuts off when the car starts stalling out.
