Well, i have driven about 1000 miles since my last visit to the friendly neighborhood ford service center and again i have a check light. Now it is getting hot so i use my A/C, and that is when it happens. I downloaded it and it gave me a P0403/P0405- EGR malfunction, and EGR low circuit fail. Then it gave me a P0132- O2 sensor bank 1 circuit 1 or something like that. I am just curious when enough is going to be enough? My faith in the 6.0L engine is dwindeling more and more each and every time i have to go back to the dealer for a temporary fix. They ( the service advisors) always do the same troubleshooting from their swivel chair. "Well, i think it is the EGR valve, or the turbo". What am i going to do if this is how it is going to be when my 3 yr/ 36 month runs out then i have to pay the 100 dollar deductible? Am i going to be liable for it? Is ford actually going to make me pay when they know it is the faulty systems with this truck? The words TRADE IT IN cross my mind every time i see that nuisance light. Any ideas? I would really appreciate any advice i can get to maybe remedy these issues. Are performance parts the answer? IS it possible for it to be running rich and fouling out parts? I think this will be that last time i go the the service department before i follow through with the dreaded trade in, so any advice i can get would help. HELP ME KEEP MY TRUCK!!!!!!
You are not alone unfortuntaly. My '03 has been to the dealer 7 times in 3 years and only 16K miles; 2 VGT's, 1 EGR, 1 EBP, 1 MAP and 2 turbo's. My 3 yr/36K warranty just ran out but before it did I had to purchace the 7yr/70K extended service plan. Being retired, I can't just trade it in and why would I do that because the "new" 6.0s seem to be just as bad. When 2 service managers tell me that they have replaced up too 5 turbo's on some trucks, I wonder why Ford can't make a turbo that doesn't fail. They seem to just don't care. In a December 12th Autoweek article Ford's president of customer service division said Ford "will spend whatever amout of time and money necessary to help customers who have problems." If he is sincere, Ford should warranty the engine for 10 years/100K miles or fix the problem. I have been a Ford person all my life but the next vehicle will not be a Ford unless they can solve the 6.0's problems once and for all.
My advice to you is if you still can use the lemon law, do it. I wish I did! I love the truck but will have to sell it before the 7 years is up. Can't afford $3500 turbo bills.
Only thing I can hope for is Ford solves the tubo problem in the next 4 years. My ''86 6.9 is still running for my son and I never had 1 engine related problem.Sorry for rambling but I'am just so frustrated. We all paid over 40 grand and didn't get what we wanted, reliability!!!
I feel for you. I paid 42,000 for my truck expecting nothing but the best. All i got was a HUGE headache. Everytime i turn around it is another problem, or a recurring problem. I al SICK and TIRED of hearing the same ol' crap from the dealers. I looked in my manuals that i got with the truck looking for a number to call Ford Corporate customer service but found nothing, i also looked on the web and all i found was a "contact us" link. So i typed a huge complaint hoping for the response from a ford rep. Still nothing. I refuse to pay a $100.00 deductible for a warranty repair that ford cant even get right with the deductible free warranty. Anyway, dont worry about rambling, i know exactly how you feel, and all i know is that if this is how this truck is going to be, then i will definately trade it in for Brand X if need be.
There is a 800 phone number in your manual for the Ford customer realationship center where you give them your VIN # and tell them about your problems. They listen but they tell you that you have to work it out with the dealer and the local Ford rep. Hope you have better luck then me. Insist on meeting with the Ford rep. My dealer's service manager talked to the rep. over the phone and not much came of it. Have your service records with you and play hard ball. It's worth a shot.
P132B, thats right. I knew it was a something like that. I am going to take it in in the morning to have it looked at so hopefully i will hear something quick. I will probabl;y get the ol" well we will need it for a couple of days, so we will let you know when we know". Man i hate dealerships/service departments!!!! Anyway, thanks for reminding me on the code. Ill have to write them down so i can have records of all this.
