I just started having a problem with the ignition key not turning until I jiggle the key, move the steering wheel and plenty of "magic" words, then if I am lucky the key will turn and I will be able to start the truck.Once I get the key to turn it seems to work ok for the rest of the day but the next day I have to start all over again.
Is the probem that the ignition key tumbler is worn out or is there a possibility of something else causing the hang up.
I hate to change the sw. tumbler only to find out something else is wrong.
The key works fine in the door.
It sounds like the steering wheel is partially engaging the lock position. I've noticed that when I exit my truck with my hand on the sw, it doesn't take much movement to engage the sw lock.
All I can suggest at this point is make sure your hand is not causing the sw to engage lock when you enter/exit your truck.
You might try both hands on the sw to turn it sligthly to the left, hold it in that position with your left hand, and attempt to turn the key with your right hand. If that doesn't work, it's probably time to dig out the repair manual or contact the dealer for suggestions.
Sorry this isn't much help. I have over 105,500 miles on my truck and the ignition switch works smoothly every time.
