I have a question about if my parking lights are working correctly.
When I turn on just the parking lights without the headlights they are on, then when I turn on the headlights, the parking lights go off. My question is this normal? Or do I have a problem in a switch somewhere?
Well terminology is everything.
You mentioned *Parking Lights* as opposed to Running or driving lights.
I'm pretty darn sure with that old a truck, they go out when the headlights get turned on.
Yeah you are right. On my 65 when I just have the parking lights on they shine. But as soon as I pull it all the way out to make the headlights come on the parking lights go out. Musta been something Ford did back in those days...
But nothing is wrong.. Unless mine is wrong too! hahah
Most all pre69 Fords were set up this way. Parking lights for parking and head lights for driving. The parking lights are pretty useless when the headlights are on anyway so why waste the bulb life?
Your lights are working properly. If you want the Parking Lights on with the Headlights, run a jumper wire from the low beam terminal of the Headlight to the Park Light (not the Turn Light) terminal of the Park Light assembly.
