still more turbo problems

hey guys i fianly got my truck back from the bodyshop (some lady totaled a ford exploror into the back of my diesel) it didn't do to much damage to my truck bent bumper and tailgate. But back to my problems. i still am only gettimg 4psi out of this turbo. I cannot figure out what is wrong with it. I am half afraid to buy inpellers for it unless i pin point it down to that being the problem. Now my question is, is there any places out there that sell better turbo fins that sit these older banks non wastgated turbos? if not is there anythign you can do with the turbos to make them perform any better? If i need to get inpellers i would like to get peformance ones is they are possible to get. Also is there anyother turbos (wastgated or not) that are close to working and would only take a little bit of work to make them work on these trucks?
thanks,
Jimmy

first make sure you are getting full throttle movement. Have someone move the go pedal to the floor and you go under the hood and see if you can make the throttle move some more. Make sure the filter is clean. Make sure the boost guage is good and the hose to it is good and no kinks or leaks in the boost side of the turbo. Is it this way forever or has it just happened ? Is the truck yours since the turbo system is installed ? Is the fuel delivery at the right setting ?

ok i will check the throttle movement today. i also just changed the fuel filter in the truck. the boost guage is new and the line is not kinked i checked it out and made sure it was working correctly before i installed it in my truck. this truck was a non turbo truck and we got the turbo installed on it now its the olderstyle non wastegated turbo that i got burned on my another fordtruck member. ever since the turbo was installed we only are getting 4lbs of boost out of it. i know the turbo's should make more then that. when i bought it it was supposibly on a good running truck and the turbo worked perfectly. then once i bought it and started having all of these troubles i asked if it made any difference on his truck and he said no it didn't it ran the same without it. also he then said his boost guage never showed it was making any boost after i bought it but before i got it he said it was a perfect working order turbo. i hate gettign burned expecialy by a fordtruck member where you always think there is fair nice people not people out there to rip you off. i tryed to ask if they would make this a fair deal with me and they said no. the only way i can make this a fair deal is if i do it leagle ways. i dont know im ready to take this truck and jsut drive it off the side of the cliff and end all of the problems. its jsut somthign i cannot figure out. before i had my injection pump advanced a little to much and i retarded it untill i didn't hear the powerstoke nock anylonger. after i did that i got the boost up to 4psi. please let me know what you guys think pretty soon im just going to give up everything. it makes me so mad everytime i work on it because i got burned on it then it sucks the fuel now... im only getting 13.5mpg now. before i used to get 15-18....
thanks again
ps sorry for complaining on here i just had to get it all out of my system....

How much black smoke are you seeing at wide open throttle?

we tryed to call banks and they said they would call us back and everytime they neer do. talk about customer service that banks has... everytime they need to run acrost the shop to ask about something they say ill call you guys back and they never ever do. there customerservice sucks. they cant figure out whats wrong with it either. I know with only making 4pound of boost i should have some black smoke but comming up over the ridge holding it to the floor it will heat up to 1200. the weird thing is i seldom see any black smoke and when i do its hardly noticable when i romp on it.
thanks again!
PS do you guys think if i put more fuel to it i will gain more boost and it wont heat up any quicker on me?
thanks,
Jimmy

ok guys i also noticed my trying the throttle when i put the pedal to the floor and i push on it i cant push it any fauther BUT that is because of the throttle cable i cant push it bottoms out on that. now if i look at where the injection pump the low idle screw and wide open screw is i noticed that i do not have a wideopen screw and if i push i can open the injectionpump another 1/8inch before the nub (where the wideopen screw was at that is missing touches) now what?
thanks,
jimmy
ps should i try to get that nub where the wideopen screw used to be to bottom out of not?
thanks again!

the more fuel you put to it, the hotter the egt's will get, and the faster they will get there. be very careful running at 1200º. you are dancing with the devil at those temps. i would not recommend any more than 1100º

one thought. you now have 5 lbs of boost. what are you running for exhaust?
do you have a muffler on it, or are you running a straight pipe??

i run 3 inch downpipe to a 3 inch splitter, then dual 3 inch to the 4 inch stacks.
on normal driving, i only get 4-8 lbs boost. but when i stand on it, it will spool up to 11-13 lbs boost. this is with the C6 trans.
at idle, can you hear the turbo whistle??

JIMMY ,,, let me know where you are located. I can come help you out if you want. also, have you changed your injection pump or some one else did before you owned the truck. I am wondering if the timing is off from pump installation.

I installed a rebuilt injection pump on the truck. I first lined up the timign marks and i had the "powerstoke nock" so i took it to the injection shop and he said retard it untill you dont hear it anymore. So i did that then took it back to him and he said that sounds alot better then it did before. my truck on normal driving isn't making any boost at all. when i really get on it ill get 4-5 pounds of boost. you can hear the turbo when you get on it really hard but it doesn't sound like a turbo like you would hear on a powerstroke or anything. normaly on a powerstoke you rev it and let off you can hear the turbo spooling down thats a really high pitch winding noise and mine doesn't really make that noise at all.
thanks,
Jimmy
