I need the wiring harness that goes from the firewall to the engine that has the wires for the coil (red), temperature gauge sending unit (red w/white stripe), and oil pressure gauge sending unit (white w/red stripe). This is for a 61-63 F100/250 with a 292 V-8 and the Ford part number is C1TF-14289-D. Anyone know of a new source or maybe a good used one that someone does'nt need? Email me at viking4478(No Email Addresses In Posts!) if you can help. Thanks!!!
I've been searching for a source for a complete replacement wiring harness for my 61 Uni and so far the only place I've found is an outfit called Narragansett Reproductions in Rhode Island. They told me if they've already done a harness for the same truck they could just make it and send. I called them yesterday and they'd never made one for a 61 like mine so I'd need to remove my harness and ship it to them and they'd make me a new one for $300 to $400. I considered Painless of course but their universal harness doesn't have the connectors on the end. My understanding is that it can be a huge pain to install a universal harness in the 61-63 trucks trying to tie into the connectors. The price for the complete harness from Narragansett seemed to be in the ballpark with the universal harness from Painless. I'm not sure I'm supposed to put the phone number to Narragansett in my message so email me and I'll send it to you if you want. They do not have a website yet.
Thanks to those who responded. The previous owner took the wire cutters to it so I dont have anything to send as an example. I ordered the appropriate color wires from Sacremento Vintage Ford and am going to construct my own.
Since you're building your own, go check out Radio Shack for the actual connectors. They have molex connectors that can handle about 8 amps and 250 volts. I know they have 9 pin connectors. But I don't think they have anything with more connections. I can not remember the catalog numbers (worked at RS for 3 years). However I know they are a "274 series". They should be in the drawer system, red drawer probably. It would be labeled molex or power connectors.
I'll check tomorrow and get the part numbers, their online catalog sucks.
I plan to use painless, but in the meantime I use weather pac crimp on connectors from NAPA. I built a rear harness with backup lights and used weather pac connectors without any problems. Whereever possible I use ring eye and nut fasteners (coil, solinoid, sending units).
