hood ordament

I was at the junk yard the other day and saw a 48-50 F-1.
It had a hood ordament on it.
I am curious to know if any of these had them out of the factory or if that is after market.

While I wish I had a camera when I went I don't.
I didn't really look at it but I put a pic in my gallery.
It shows my pickup on a u-hall. (passanger side/ should be last pic)
You will have to open the pic to really see it. It is black on the pic, on the truck I am pretty sure it was chrome.
I hope this helps.
It is the basic shape. Nothing fancy.

No factory hood ornaments that I've ever seen, but tons of aftermarket or used car ornaments from junkyards.

the 1948-50 commonly were equipt with after market orniments or ones from other makes and years. At one point I think mine even had one. They look sharp but were not factory!!

I bought an old 48 panel and mine has one that is simular to yours. I was also told that some dealerships put them on as well.

It was similar but it didn't have the round piece on it.

In the 50's Ford did not assesorize (sp)? I'm pretty sure there were add-ons after the trucks left the assembly line, or when did dealerships start selling asessories.
