Does anyone know if an automatic overdrive will bolt up to a 390? I do a lot of highway driving on the beautiful desert roads of the south-west. I presently have a 3.25 rear end. 30 inch rear tires . At 50mph it''s doing 2000 rpm. I know the 390 torque will pull well at low rpms.
James, There is a manual OD that will work, but no inexpensive auto OD that will bolt up to the FE.

In the cool still quiet of night, you can hear chevies rusting away.
there is a place in New York that modifies AOD's to fit big block Fords, Chevies, and Dodges. I don't remember their name but is something like PB Performance. They claim to be able to handle 800 horsepower. Now, if you're sitting down, they sell for about $2500. A friend has one behind a 460 in his 55 and likes it alot.
