I've been following the tranny shuddering, cooling, and swapping posts with extra interest, as I see a rebuild in my future.
A year or so ago while browsing, I saw a firm advertising heavy duty rebuilt a4ld units "suitable for RVs and off road vehicles".
Is this advertising hype or is there such a item?
What do they do to make it beefier?
I have a 93 4.0, awd. I didnt realize there was a 2wd and a different awd tranny. I'm learning a lot at this site.
That site has a couple of adapter parts to install a 700R4 into an Aerostar. I wonder what other connections need to be made to make this work? Will this be a much stronger transmission than the beefed up (using their own parts) A4LD?
