1989 E350 Cooling System

I changed the radiator in my 89 E350 (460) and it only took 16 quarts to recharge the whole system. Seems like it should be a lot more.

My 88 460 took about 28 quarts and the spec for the 88 is 28 quarts.

Anybody know the spec for an 89 E350 or why the 89 would only take 16 quarts? I isn't overheating. Well, the guage doesn't say it is running hot if you trust guages!!!

Any info would be appreciated.

There are 3 row and 4 row radiators available for that model. I think the 4 row takes more than 16 qts.

Both are 4 row.

On another note, I drove the 89 (new radiator - 16 qts.) all day today and the temp guage is rock solid. Ran great, no overheating.

This is one of those, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" situations. Would be nice to know but...
