351m vs 400
Ok guys, i know this has been beaten to death but...
How do I tell the difference?
My vin is H and I have the 351M. My brother just bought a truck in OH and was told that it had a 351windsor in it. I assured him that it wasn't made that way. He counted the valve cover bolts (8), so I know that it is either a 351M or a 400. How do I tell which? His vin has a G

You didn't say what year it is. According to this link, it is a 302, if it is a 77-79. The best way to find out if it is a 351m or 400, is to pull a spark plug and measure the piston travel. 3.5" means a 351m, 4" means it is a 400.
